Minimalist Kashmiri Cuisine
Last summer, I gave up eating meat thanks to Peter Singer’s book, “Animal Liberation,” which I read in preparation for my podcast conversation with animal activist Maneka Gandhi. Singer’s book contains disturbing data on the animal farming industry. After my conversation with Mrs. Gandhi, she asked me whether I’d help raise money for a new animal shelter in Kashmir, where I have deep roots. I was glad to oblige and kicked things off by making a substantial donation, which enabled the shelter to buy an ambulance. But, of course, they need a lot more help. So, I decided that I’d share some of my Kashmiri culinary secrets with the world, hopefully in exchange for some donations to a worthy cause.
In other words, this time, I’m not going to write about the emerging brave new world of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence or genomics and their associated wonders and risks. Instead, I’m going to invite you to watch a video where I share some recipes that fall under the category of what I would call “Minimalist Kashmiri Cuisine.”
So, please do check it out. My kids and their local school friends grew up on my food. One of those munchkins, who is now a teacher at the same school in NYC (Grace Church School), once told me that the thought of my Kashmiri food would his mouth water!
I hope what you see in the video opens up a new culinary experience for you. You can easily personalize the style to your taste.
Here is the link that will take you to the video, which I’ve kept short and sweet. Enjoy!
And please forward the link to animal people you know. Here is a big fat link just in case.
My Latest Podcast
My latest guest on Brave New World was Tom Davenport, author of All In on AI, and the title says it all. The way I see it, if you’re a business leader, you’re either going all in on Artificial Intelligence or you’re going out of business sooner or later. If you want to know what’s happening with AI in the business world, tune into my conversation with Tom.
Tom is a Professor at Babson College, a Fellow of the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy, and a Visiting Professor at Oxford Said Business School. He’s also a Senior Advisor to Deloitte's AI Practice. His tentacles spread far and wide. It’s always fun talking to him, so do check out our conversation.
Until next time.
